We are RVers..I measured 8 cups of flour into each brown bag and then vac sealed – our frig is small so it will keep better after opening and I can get 2 loaves of bread out of more or less 8 c.. :) hope? this little tip helps you fellow rv’ers – also – should be good for bartering when the SHTF

Using this tip with rice,? beans, grains. I have found the bags no matter what brand are so thin now. This tip has definately helped to have less open bags especially when sealing sharp or hard products. Use paper plates over bones on fish or meat when freezing.

It will not keep as long as the whole grain. White bleached flour will keep longer than whole wheat flour. We have kept whole wheat for over 3 years and it was still like new fresh from the store. A guess with out extensive experience would be, kept in a safe dry cool place, 7 plus? years is not out of the question. In our shop for test foods, over 10 years from the Y2K era and all but the brown rice was still very good. Hope that helps.

@leesaun641 Yes and helps to reuse the bags especially those that are so thin now a days. Cheaper yes but way thinner so sharp items like dehydrated foods, rice, beans,? jerky ect pop holes and the bags leak. Great trick and far less messy. Thanks for your response.
